After all the cold air is exhausted (that is, when the water vapor is continuously discharged from the exhaust valve), close the exhaust valve. Continue to heat until the pressure gauge gradually rises to the required pressure (generally 101.53 kPa, or 15 lb/in2, and the temperature is 121.3°C), adjust the fire to maintain the pressure and temperature (note that the pressure should not be too high to avoid accidents ) for 15-30 min. After the sterilization time is up, stop the heating, and when the pressure drops to zero, slowly open the exhaust valve to remove the remaining air, and open the cover to take the material. Do not suddenly open the exhaust valve before the pressure drops to zero, so as to avoid the liquid in the sterilizer from spraying out.
Dry heat sterilizer
Pack the petri dishes, straws, test tubes and other glass equipment, put them into the box, and heat with the door closed. When the temperature rises to 160-170°C, keep the temperature for 2 hours. When the time is up, stop heating and open the door to pick up the objects after the temperature naturally drops below 40°C. Otherwise, the cold air will suddenly enter, which may cause the glass to burst; The air escapes, which often burns the skin of the person taking the object. General straws, test tubes, Petri dishes, vaseline, liquid paraffin, etc. can be sterilized by this method.
